Dual Enrollment at LSSC

In accordance with State Board of Education Rule 6A-10.0315, students must successfully complete all sections of a common placement test, through scores on a single test or combination of tests, and meet all college ready cut score requirements as a prerequisite to Dual Enrollment eligibility and participation. LSSC accepts the highest test scores on any of the tests or combination of tests identified in the table below.

LSSC offers PERT Testing on all three campuses and at the student’s expense. Prospective Dual Enrollment students who wish to PERT Test at LSSC should register online (www.lssc.edu/testing) for their testing session and pay the required fee at the Cashier/Enrollment Services Office prior to the testing session.  

Public School Students - Steps to Enrollment 

  • Meet with High School Counselor to discuss eligibility.
  • Complete placement test, if necessary.
  • Apply for Admission
  • Activate Lakehawk email
  •  Schedule and attend SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising, & Registration)
  • REGISTER for classes   
  • Meet with School Counselor to Approve LSSC Courses 
  • Purchase Textbooks: www.LSSC.edu/admissions/de

Home Education Students - Steps to Enrollment 

The Home Education Dual Enrollment Packet has been created to help you through the Dual Enrollment Process.

The following steps needs to be completed before a Home Education student will be able to register for classes at LSSC:

  1. ​​Complete the LSSC Lake and Sumter County Home Education Verification Form
  2. Complete Admissions Application
  3. Complete Placement Testing Requirements
  4. Sign the 18-19 LSSC Home Education Dual Enrollment Agreement
  5. Submit all documents to LSSC

Important note - Home Education Official/parent/guardians serves as the student’s secondary counselor and will be required to sign dual enrollment paperwork that requests a secondary school counselor/principal’s signature.

Home Education Textbook Pick-Up Process

Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) has developed the following procedure to comply with Florida House Bill 7055, allowing eligible Home Education Dual Enrollment students with an opportunity to obtain textbooks; LSSC has elected a free book rental process for this program.
