Amanda Phelps

Head Volleyball Coach

Amanda Phelps joins the LSSC family as the new head volleyball coach for the Lakehawks volleyball programs. Phelps joins us from Lake Minneola High School.

“The LSSC community is constantly growing and improving,” says Phelps. “I am excited to be a part of that growth and success. The Mid-Florida Conference is extremely competitive and I look forward to helping LSSC return to the top of the MFC.”

Phelps began her career at Saint Leo University in Dade City, FL. She played libero and was captain for two years. At St. Leo, she was the three-time Sunshine State Conference defensive player of the week nominee and a three-time member of the American Volleyball’s Association 30-dig club. Phelps also excelled in the classroom, receiving the Division II Athletics Directors Associations Academic Achievement Award, ESPN the Magazine All-Academic Third-Team, the SLU Women in Sports Achievement Award and graduated from the honors program.

After graduating from St. Leo with her bachelor’s, Phelps continued to pursue her passion for volleyball by accepting a graduate assistant position at the University of West Georgia where she coached for two years and received her Master’s in Business Administration.

In 2011, Phelps returned to Florida and led the Ladyhawks of Lake Minneola High School for five years.

“We are excited about Amanda joining the LSSC family and having someone with her volleyball background to lead our young ladies,” says Athletic Director Mike Matulia. “Amanda brings a wealth of volleyball knowledge and great character qualities that make her a great fit for our program.”

Amanda resides in Clermont with her husband, Kevin Phelps.
