Lake-Sumter State College is now enrolling students from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands displaced by Hurricane Maria.
These students will be eligible for in-state tuition at Lake-Sumter State College, and any of the 28 state colleges across the state. A modified enrollment process is in place to allow for a smooth transition from their previous institution. Full details for eligible students is available at www.lssc.edu/mariahelp.
“We know that this is a difficult time for many families, and LSSC staff are ready to assist displaced students to ensure a seamless and timely transition,” says Dr. Claire Brady, Vice President for Enrollment & Student Affairs. “Students can contact Admissions and Enrollment Services at any our campuses for additional information.”
Annual in-state tuition for a full-time student is approximately $3,100 at LSSC, an approximate $10,000 difference from the out-of-state cost.
Governor Rick Scott announced last week that more than 58,000 individuals have arrived in Florida from Puerto Rico through Miami International Airport, Orlando International Airport and Port Everglades.
