LSSC Theatre Arts Society Presents Almost, Maine – A Real Romantic Comedy

LSSC’s Theatre Arts Society invites the community to a student theater production of “Almost, Maine”, a romantic comedy that will be performed at the Lake-Sumter State College’s Paul P. Williams Auditorium from November 16 through 18.

On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend – almost – in this delightful midwinter night’s dream about romantic relationships.

“The team is doing a great job of putting together an amazing set for the performance,” says Toni Upchurch, instructor and co-director of the production. “I am so pleased by the effort the actors are putting into making these characters come to life.”

Tickets are $5 for general admission, and free for LSSC students, faculty, and staff.

“Almost, Maine” is a play by John Cariani, comprising nine short plays that explore love and loss in a remote, mythical almost-town called Almost, Maine. It premiered at the Portland Stage Company in Portland, Maine in 2004 where it broke box office records and garnered critical acclaim.

Due to some adult themes, parents are encouraged to only bring children ages 13 and up.
