Update: Stay vigilant as Dorian approaches, shelters and county resources available

Sunday, Sept 1 at 5:45pm

As we brace for Hurricane Dorian, our greatest concern is the safety and wellbeing of our students, faculty, staff, and friends of the college. As the storm approaches our area, we want each of you to be able to receive the support and assistance that you may need.

Although the forecast reports are frequently changing, we urge you to remain vigilant and fully prepared for possible severe impacts from Hurricane Dorian.

Shelters are beginning to open across the area and will continue over the next 24 hours. County-by-county info is available at https://www.floridadisaster.org/planprepare/shelters/.

If you have immediate or emergency needs, we encourage you to contact your county’s emergency operations center (if open, see number below) or in an emergency, dial 911. Please know that during the worst of the storm, first responders may not be able to immediately respond.

Update: Online services remain available

Saturday, Aug 31 at 3pm

Online services (Canvas, LSSC.edu, LOIS, email, etc.) are fully functional. We do not expect any of these services to go offline. If any of these services are impacted by the storm and taken offline, we will let you know.

Please remember that your ability to access these services may be limited by your access to your own internet service after the storm.

Although the forecast track has shifted Hurricane Dorian eastward in the last several hours, we hope that you are continuing to prepare for possible impacts from the storm.

Students:  Please continue to watch your Canvas messages and contact your faculty members with any questions related to course-specific changes or deadlines.

Stay safe Lakehawks!
