Initial statement regarding international Coronavirus outbreak

LSSC is aware of and closely monitoring reports from the CDC regarding an outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus (named “2019-nCoV”) that was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, and which continues to expand.

At this time, there are no confirmed cases of 2019-nCoV in the state of Florida. However, the CDC has issued a travel warning and recommends that individuals avoid all nonessential travel to China. Additional information on this travel warning is available from the CDC. International travelers may find more extensive screenings upon entering the U.S. at airports across the country.

LSSC will continue to monitor the information provided about this outbreak, and as the information is changing quickly, we encourage you to stay up-to-date with reports available from media sources. If additional information becomes available that will impact the College community, we will share that with you.
