Volunteer and Job Applications for LSSC Kids’ College  Summer Camps Now Open
 

Lake-Sumter State College is recruiting high school students and recent high school graduates to volunteer or work with our Kids’ College summer programs.

Kids’ College is an enriching summer program for school-aged (1st-6th grades) children to expand their knowledge, learn new skills and have an opportunity for exploration and discovery.

New this year, LSSC’s Youth Development team is hosting a new summer program called Xploration. This camp is specifically designed for middle-school aged (6th-9th grades) children to experience hands-on, interactive and challenging tracks that will put their skills to the test and provide them with a more advanced summer learning experience.

Kids’ College and Xploration are offered in June and July at LSSC’s Leesburg and South Lake campuses. Aides-in-Training and Program Aides must be available for all dates.

Aide-in-Training (AIT)

A work-oriented volunteer experience which gives teens the opportunity to assist Kids’ College and Xploration instructors, staff and students, while helping to create a safe and positive atmosphere for the participants. AITs will receive leadership & safety training, conflict resolution, public service hours, and more!

High school students entering 10th -12th grades can apply to become an AIT. Participation as an AIT volunteer can count towards the Florida Bright Futures volunteer requirements.

Program Aide 

This is a paid work experience that provides support to the Kids’ College and Xploration instructors, staff and students, and encourages student engagement by fostering positive and appropriate relationships between students. 

Program Aides must be at least 18 years old, with a high school diploma.
