Lake-Sumter State College is proud to announce its commencement speaker for the South Lake ceremony, Noah Williams. Noah is a shining example of hard work and dedication paying off, as his talent as a track and field athlete has brought him to the forefront of the sport.
Noah’s journey began at McQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester, New York, where he won the 2017 New York Public High School State title in the 200m and qualified for the indoor state championships in the long jump. He then attended the University of Akron, winning multiple Mid-American Conference titles and placing fourth in the 400m at the 2020 USATF Indoor Championships after redshirting the 2019 season.
However, his transfer to sprints powerhouse LSU really catapulted Noah into the spotlight. His indoor season for the Tigers was nothing short of spectacular, winning the SEC indoor 400m title and the NCAA indoor crown as well. In fact, he set a lifetime best of 44.71, making him the fourth-fastest man in history.
Noah continued to impress during his outdoor campaign, opening with a 400m in 44.30, which made him the fastest man in the world over 400m for 2021 at the time. He also won another SEC title for the Tigers and placed third in the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Before the 2022 indoor season, Noah decided to turn professional and moved to Florida to train under Coach Lance Brauman. His hard work and dedication have led him to where he is today, and we are honored to have him as our commencement speaker.
Noah’s journey is a testament to the fact that hard work, perseverance, and dedication can pay off in a big way. His success in the sport of track and field is inspiring, and we have no doubt that he will bring that same level of inspiration to the LSSC Class of 2023.
