Associate in Science - Computer Information Technology:

The Associate in Science (A.S.) in Computer Information Technology degree program provides a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum designed to equip students with the technical knowledge and skills essential for success in the ever-evolving Information Technology field. This program aligns with challenging academic standards and prepares students for IT careers or further education. The courses are primarily offered fully online, with hybrid options available in Leesburg and South Lake. Additionally, the program aligns with local partnerships, including collaborations with LakeWorks and K-12 articulation agreements, enhancing opportunities for students.

Career Preparation: Prepares students for various IT careers, including roles in network support, software development, and systems analysis.

Comprehensive Skill Development: Covers critical areas such as:

Hardware: Understanding computer components and troubleshooting.

Software: Knowledge of operating systems and application software.

Networking: Skills in configuring and managing networks.

Programming: Exposure to programming languages and software development principles.

Program Length

The program consists of 60 credit hours and can be completed in two years when attending full-time.

Program Costs

Tuition costs for programs and courses at the associate’s degree level are $109.73 per credit hour. Additional costs will include textbooks, materials, and course fees. Learn more about our tuition & fees.

Students graduating from high school and enrolling at LSSC may qualify for other scholarships offered through the State of Florida. You will be notified of your eligibility after you apply to the College.

An Associate in Science in Computer Information Technology degree prepares students for diverse IT careers, such as network support and software development. According to the BLS, Florida ranks 4th in the country in computer support specialist jobs with over 10,000 positions, an hourly mean wage of $36.15, and an annual mean wage of $75,190.

When beginning this program, students should make an appointment for advising with the program manager.

Only required courses for an LSSC degree or qualifying certificate program are eligible for federal financial aid.  Verify course choices and avoid charges by making an appointment with an academic advisor.

Students must earn a grade of C or higher in all introductory, intermediate, advanced, and program elective courses.

As per the amended Florida Rule 6A-10.02413, prior to the award of an associate in science or associate in applied science degree, LSSC students under the 2022-2023 Catalog and thereafter must demonstrate competency in civic literacy through one of the following options prior to graduation:

  • successfully passing POS 2041 American National Government or AMH 2020 U.S. History Since 1877 and achieving a 60% or higher on the Florida Civic Literacy Exam , or
  • successfully passing a prescribed assessment:
    • AP Government & Politics Test: United States (passing score of 3), or
    • AP U.S. History Test (passing score of 4), or
    • CLEP: American Government (passing score of 50)
