The career exploration process may look different for everyone. We recommend that you make an appointment with a Career Advisor for additional advice and support through the process. You can make an appointment through Starfish.

Step 1: Conduct a Self-Assessment

LSSC offers students access to Career Assessments to find career matches based on your interests. Please contact our office to find out more information at Careers@LSSC.edu or 352-323-3603.

Step 2: Research your Academic and Career Options

Learn more about particular careers or majors by researching career profiles, educational requirements, employment outlook, expected salary, university transfer options, and much more.

In addition to meeting with a Career Advisor, you can use these resources to help in the process. Please note that many of these links are to sites not maintained or edited by Lake-Sumter State College.

Step 3: Obtain Relevant and/or Practical Experience

In this step, individuals evaluate occupational choices and gain practical experience through internships, cooperative education, relevant summer employment, volunteer work and campus activities.

Step 4: Prepare for your Job Search or University Transfer

An initial occupational choice is made in this step. Individuals prepare for and begin conducting a job search, or apply to transfer to a university to continue their education.
