Emergency Assistance Programs Launch for LSSC Students

The following message was sent to all LSSC students on April 16, 2020, by Dr. Claire Brady, Vice President of Enrollment and Student Affairs.

Dear students,

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, LSSC has brought together unprecedented emergency resources to support students who are facing short-term financial concerns. Many of our students are confronting loss of work, housing concerns, health issues, and food insecurity.  Many are now also at risk of delaying their academic progress due to these and other hardships.

We want to help.

LSSC is now offering assistance programs for students enrolled in at least one academic course this spring or this summer. Funding for these programs comes from generous donors to the LSSC Foundation, the LSSC Student Government Association, the CARES Act federal relief, and institutional support.

These programs will remain in place as long as they are needed and as long as the resources are available. The student is not responsible for any type of repayment for the money awarded from grants.

Educational Support Grant Program
Support for tuition, fees and related educational costs may be available to eligible students through Financial Aid, federal relief efforts, Foundation scholarships, and other college resources. In additional to tuition and fees, educational costs may include textbooks/access codes, housing, food, utilities, technology, COVID-19 medical expenses, etc… Students should indicate their unique needs on the application. Award amounts will vary.

Grocery Gift Card Program
Currently enrolled students may be eligible to receive a $50 Publix gift card for the purchase of food and grocery items.

How it works:

  • Currently enrolled students may apply for assistance using the online application linked below.
  • Award decisions will be made based on the applicant’s individual situation.
  • All communication regarding your application will be done in Lakehawk Mail.
