Through an assessment process, the FCCPC has to demonstrate competence in her/his ability to meet the specific needs of children, as well as working with parents and other adults to nurture children’s physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth.

This 120-hour classroom program is designed to incorporate activities for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Eight content areas identified by the Council for Professional Recognition will be covered.

Students meeting all of the above criteria will be awarded the FCCPC Credential Certificate.

Applicants for the FCCPC must: (1) be at least 18 years old, (2) be able to speak, read, and write well enough to fulfill the responsibilities of a FCCPC candidate, (3) sign a statement of ethical conduct, (4) be observed as a lead caregiver, (5) have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, (6) have completed 40 hours of state mandated online training, and (7) be employed or be volunteering in a day care or preschool setting.

The Teacher Education and Compensation Helps Early Childhood (T.E.A.C.H.) scholarship program may help cover expenses for the FCCPC courses and A.A.S. degree in child development courses.
