LSSC monitoring Tropical Storm Dorian

Although impacts to Central Florida remain uncertain, LSSC, in coordination with state and local officials, is actively monitoring Tropical Storm Dorian as it makes its way through the Caribbean.

The storm’s path and strength are fluid, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Now is the time to review emergency plans for personal and family preparedness. Lake County has a Hurricane Preparedness guide to assist you with preparing your emergency plan if you don’t have one in place.

At LSSC, the College’s Emergency Management Group is responsible for preparing the College to respond to and recover from emergencies, including severe weather.

Any emergency announcements, including campus closures, will be sent through the LSSC Alert system. The system sends text messages, emails, and phone calls. The alerts will also be posted on LSSC’s main social media pages and on the website.

You are encouraged to also sign up for emergency notifications from the county in which you reside. You can sign up online for Alert Lake or Alert Sumter.
