Lake-Sumter State College will host its 61st Commencement Ceremony on Friday, December 6, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. in the Everett A. Kelly Convocation Center in Leesburg.

This fall, LSSC will confer nearly 250 degrees and certificates.

The Commencement Speaker will be Dr. Isaac Deas, a dedicated mental health advocate and engaged volunteer in our local community and internationally in Kenya, England, France, and Brazil.

Dr. Deas has had a long and decorated career as a mental health professional specializing in substance abuse therapy, family intervention, and adolescent behavioral treatment. He is also deeply connected to the College and the success of our students. He previously served as a part-time Instructor at LSSC and currently serves on the Lake-Sumter State College Foundation Board.

John Brusca, a graduating student from Clermont, will serve as the student speaker. John was an active student leader contributing to The Angler, the College’s student newspaper, and by chartering a table-top gaming club for his fellow students. John plans to continue his education at the University of Central Florida, where he will pursue his bachelor’s degree.

Due to limited seating, the ceremony is a ticketed event for friends and family of the graduates.
