LSSC is continuing to monitor information from the CDC and state health officials regarding the outbreak of the novel coronavirus and the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
While the CDC believes the immediate risk of this new virus to the American public is low at this time, everyone can do their part to help prevent the spread of this and other illnesses. It’s currently flu and respiratory disease season and CDC recommends getting a flu vaccine, taking everyday preventive actions to help stop the spread of germs, and taking flu antivirals if prescribed.
If you aren’t feeling well, or experiencing flu-like symptoms, the CDC recommends that you stay home and consider seeking medical care. Please follow standard practices for communicating any absences to your instructor or supervisor.
There are no reported cases of COVID-19 in the State of Florida. However, the College’s Emergency Management Team is prepared to enact LSSC’s public health emergency response plan, if needed, and is coordinating with the Florida College System and state health officials.
As a reminder, the CDC has expanded their travel warnings and alerts to additional countries. Full details on travel advisories are available from the CDC. International travelers returning to the U.S. from impacted regions will be directed to specific airports and may experience more extensive screenings and possible restrictions on their movements for 14 days.
