Academic Advising
Academic Advisors help students navigate their educational journey by providing guidance on course selection, degree requirements, and academic planning. They assist students in setting and achieving academic goals, understanding institutional policies, and accessing campus resources.
Learning Services
Lake-Sumter State College Learning Services provides comprehensive academic support to help students succeed at every stage of their college journey. Through tutoring, writing assistance, exam preparation, and virtual resources, the Learning Centers foster a welcoming environment that encourages collaboration, growth, and academic excellence.
Library
An essential resource on campus that provides students, faculty, and staff access to the Florida College and University System holdings, including books, academic journals, electronic databases, computers, printing, and other learning materials. It offers study spaces, research assistance, and often hosts workshops or events to support academic success.
Tutoring & Learning Center
Provides academic support, tutoring, and resources to enhance student success and promote lifelong learning, both in-person and virtually. Study rooms are available by appointment on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional learning resources, including books, calculators, and other materials, are available for borrowing with a valid student ID.
Testing Services
Testing Services provides students with a variety of assessment services, including placement tests, course exams, and standardized testing. The office offers a secure, supportive environment for students to take required exams and ensures accommodations for students with disabilities, promoting equal access to academic assessments for all.
Writing Center
The LSSC Writing Center offers personalized support to help students improve their writing skills across all subjects. Tutors assist with grammar, organization, and clarity, whether you’re working on essays, research papers, or creative writing. Both in-person and virtual sessions are available.
Student Accessibility Services
This office provides support to students with temporary or permanent disabilities, ensuring equal access to all college programs and activities. The office offers accommodations such as extended test time, note-taking assistance, and assistive technology to help students succeed academically. Student Accessibility Services works closely with students and faculty to create a welcoming learning environment and remove barriers to education for students registered with the office.
