Lake-Sumter State College pays 100% of the premiums for medical, dental, vision, life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance for the employee. Short and long-term disability coverage is available with an additional premium. Spouse and family/dependent coverage, including domestic partners, is also available with additional premiums.
The College is committed to professional development of its employees and offers a wide variety of opportunities through the Lakehawk Leadership Academy. Seminars are hosted on-campus and virtually on a wide variety of subjects. All employees also have access to the full LinkedIn Learning library. Additionally, employees can apply for financial support to attend conferences, training, and seminars in their field.
Full-time employees begin earning sick and vacation leave with their first pay check. In addition to holiday observances when the College is closed, employees receive a paid spring break (one week) and winter break (two weeks) for over 20 paid days off each year.

Florida Retirement System

Continue your education at LSSC or support your family’s education. Employees, their spouse/domestic partner, or their dependent children are eligible to take up to two classes each semester at no cost.
Maintain your health & wellness with free access to our on-campus gym and weight room (or a stipend for a local gym if no weight room is on your primary campus).  Plus, the Employee Assistance Program provides assistance and support for employees and their families to resolve personal challenges, including family, life, work‐related, legal, or financial issues (including identity theft and fraud resolution).
LSSC full-time employees participate in and contribute toward retirement in the state’s Florida Retirement System (FRS). FRS offers a Pension Plan and the Investment Plan with different vesting requirements and contributions.
