President John Temple

John P. Temple serves as the eighth president of Lake-Sumter State College, bringing with him a distinguished career in education and public service. Prior to his presidency, he served as Vice President of Workforce Programs at the college, where he expanded workforce pathways and strengthened partnerships with regional employers to better connect students with in-demand careers.

Mr. Temple began his career as a teacher, before advancing into administrative roles at Sumter County Schools, where he gained valuable experience in education and leadership before transitioning into higher education.

He represented Florida’s District 52 as a State Representative from 2022 to 2025, where he championed policies to improve educational access and opportunity.

He holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics from Southeastern University. Known for his results-driven approach, President Temple continues to focus on fostering innovation, student success, and strong community partnerships at Lake-Sumter State College.
