Shared Governance Overview
Under the authority of the College President and the District Board of Trustees, College Committees, Councils, and subcommittees are formed to ensure broad participation in planning and completing goals and objectives that have institution-wide impact. The College’s mission, vision, values, and Strategic Plan serve as a guide for Committee and Council goals and objectives.
Each year, committees will review their areas of focus and objectives reflecting college goals, strategies, priorities, and opportunities for improvement and present their goals to their Cabinet Liaison and to the Strategic Planning Council. Committees are responsible for specific initiatives in the College’s Strategic Plan. Committee recommendations, including proposals for new projects, can be made by a majority vote. Proposals are then forwarded to the Strategic Planning Council for review, vote and a final recommendation to Cabinet
