• Faculty Learning Networks (FLNs): FLNs provide a collaborative space for educators to share knowledge, discuss challenges, and develop strategies for enhancing teaching and learning. Monthly meetings focus on topics such as active engagement strategies, allowing participants to explore and implement effective approaches in both online and in-person classrooms. These communities are designed to be “for us, by us,” leveraging the collective expertise of faculty to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.
• Mentoring Programs: The college supports formal mentoring initiatives, including the recruitment, training, and matching of mentors and mentees. These programs are designed to foster productive, supportive relationships, provide ongoing guidance, and ensure alignment with institutional priorities. Regular check-ins and feedback mechanisms help track program effectiveness and promote continuous improvement.
• Communities of Practice: Faculty are encouraged to participate in communities of practice, both within the college and through external organizations. • Institutional Support Structures: The Department of Teaching and Learning (DTL) lead efforts to develop faculty programs, oversee communities of practice, and provide instructional design support. The department also facilitates the transition to Open Educational Resources (OER), ensuring faculty have access to high-quality, accessible materials.
• Community Engagement Events: Faculty are invited to participate in conferences, webinars, and workshops such as ongoing webinars on topics like assistive technology and student engagement. These events provide opportunities to connect with peers, share research, and contribute to broader educational conversations.
