Tell us about yourself
I’m a native Floridian who is a wife, mother, grandmother, and many other titles to some amazing people – my family. The vast majority of my career has been in public service working in increasingly responsibility positions for five (5) different municipal organizations: City of Eustis (7 years); Town of Lady Lake (4 years); City of Lauderdale Lakes (1 year); City of Ocala (22 years); and City of Leesburg (3 years). I genuinely enjoy working in local government as it is the government closest to the people and impacts their daily lives.
Why did you choose LSSC?
I chose LSSC because my sister attended the institution first, and the college has an excellent reputation. I also wanted to remain close to home, so it was perfect. The instructors were amazing and made learning a pleasure.
Most Memorable Moments at LSSC
My most memorable moments were in courses where I had to do public speaking. I recall them vividly because I was terrified, but I made it through with the knowledge, skills, and tips that the instructors taught me. I learned techniques that I still use today, as they were proven to work for me.
Were you involved in extra-curricular activities on campus? If so. What were they?
Unfortunately, I did not participate in extracurricular activities. I was employed full-time while attending LSSC, which kept me busy.
The importance of LSSC alumni to stay connected
I believe it’s important for alumni to stay connected because it provides valuable networking and mentorship opportunities while strengthening the reputation of LSSC.
Advice you will offer to our current students
My advice to current students is to try to find what they are passionate about and pursue that passion. Hopefully, they can make a career out of it that will be much more fulfilling than just having a job—it will be a life mission fulfilled.
