The Performing Arts Series at Lake-Sumter State College provides quality live entertainment that is enjoyable, culturally enriching, and affordable.

The series consists of six performances that run from October through March with Saturday and Sunday matinee shows and a Saturday evening show. All shows take place at the Paul P. Williams Auditorium at the Leesburg Campus.

Brass Band of Central Florida

October 8 – 9, 2022

The Brass Band of Central Florida, under the musical direction of Gareth Pritchard, features Central Florida’s finest brass and percussion musicians performing in the British brass band style. BBCF has an active performance schedule of concerts, outreach programs and competitions throughout the United States. This dynamic ensemble has appeared with world class soloists including David Childs, Robert Childs, Steven Mead, Philip Smith and Demondrae Thurman and has won the North American Brass Band Association championship and the U.S. Open Championship four times.

A Chicago son, like Cooke himself, Darrian Ford performs these timeless and classic melodies to expanded and re-invigorated arrangements that hold stylistically true to the era, while his “… scorching vocals send you searching for your soul” (The Chicago Tribune). Urban Milwaukee said, “Ford delivered faithfully throughout the night, but with “Change is Gonna Come,” he transcended. The Triangle Theater Review said, “Ford not only turns in remarkable performances, recreating some of Cooke’s distinctive mannerisms, but captures the charisma and infectious energy of the celebrated Soul singer pioneer.”

Snow Globe Fantasy is filled with music and wonder. See the cirque acts of the Snow
fairies and Nymphs. Enjoy the playful fun acrobatics of Santa’s elves, singing & dancing
and enjoy your favorite holiday song sung by the amazing Carolers. This magical show will surely get you and your family in the Holiday Spirit.

Michael Andrew and Swingerhead perform the hits of Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin and other famous singers from the post big band era, presenting some of the greatest music of the 20th Century from composers including George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, Sammy Cahn, and Jimmy Van Heusen. With world class musicians specializing in a big band sound, SWINGERHEAD, with its powerful brass and swingin’ saxophones, is always a crowd pleaser.

A celebration of the biggest hits by the greatest divas in music history! Three beautiful female singers with powerhouse voices sing the biggest hits of the greatest divas in music history. This vibrant show spans four decades covering the 1960’s through the 1990’s with hits by Aretha Franklin, Carole King, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Cher, Dolly Parton, Donna Summer, Abba, and many more! Individual members of
the group have all starred in shows on the Las Vegas Strip. Divas3 have performed at several hotels and casinos throughout Las Vegas, and also perform as a headlining guest entertainer act on cruise ships.

Emmitt Cahill

Emmet Cahill & Emerald String Quartet

Emmet Cahill, Star of PBS Phenomenon Celtic Thunder, has been widely hailed as Ireland’s Most Exciting Young Tenor. News of his sold out debut concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall has turned heads with audiences throughout North America and he is quickly building a reputation for being the golden voice of this generation.

His performances of the Irish classics, in particular, have likened him with great Irish Tenor John McCormack. He signed a major recording Deal with Sony Music in 2017, and his debut album release went straight to #1 on the World Music Billboard Charts, Amazon Charts and iTunes World Music.
