The Performing Arts Series at Lake-Sumter State College provides quality live entertainment that is enjoyable, culturally enriching, and affordable.

The series consists of six performances that run from October through March with Saturday and Sunday matinee shows and a Saturday evening show. All shows take place at the Paul P. Williams Auditorium at the Leesburg Campus.


Color Me Jazz

October 12-13, 2019

Multi-award winning jazz vocalist James Torme and Grammy nominee jazz vocalist Renee Olstead present the highly anticipated show “Color Me Jazz.” Backed by James’ All-Star Big Band, the second-generation jazz star and protege of David Foster goes one step further with his exploration of the late fifties/early sixties jazz scene, paying tribute to hand-picked list of smoky-toned jazz artists and songs that have inspired them. James and Renee cover June Christy’s “Something Cool,” Chris Connor’s “Don’t Wait Up For Me,” Chet Baker’s “Let’s Get Lost,” and “Look For The Silver Lining” and many more jazz favorites in this exciting lineup.

Superstar: The Carpenters

Richard Carpenter has given his blessing to greenlight the new docu-musical “Superstar: The Carpenters,” starring West End and Broadway artist and producer Helen Welch. This is an original, fresh perspective of songs by the Carpenters peppered with rare and interesting back-stage stories that finally capture the true quality and essence of the band.

Helen’s distinctive alto voice settles in perfectly amid the precise, lush, new arrangements of songs such as; “Close to You,” “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “Top of the World,” as well as the title song “Superstar”. This show honors the timeless music of the Carpenters. So come and join us on this nostalgic musical journey. We dare you not to sing along!

Celtic Angels Christmas

Celtic Angels Christmas captivates audiences of all ages with the magic of Christmas in an awe-inspiring show that encompasses vocal and instrumental seasonal and Irish favorites along with spectacular world class champion Irish dancing.

You will experience Celtic Christmas songs including “Christmas in Killarney,” “The Wexford Carol,” “Once Upon a Time In Ireland,” and “Oichie Chiuin” (Silent Night) sung in Gaelic, the native language of the Celts. Christmas classics will include “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear,” “O Holy Night,” and “I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day.”

Jukebox Saturday Night

Jukebox Saturday Night is America’s premier swing review show, presenting the timeless music of The Big Band Era. Managed by Glenn Miller Productions, this fifteen-piece ensemble is made up of top tier musicians from across the country and performs all of the greatest hits from the Swing Era. Jukebox Saturday Night presents a brilliant display of this truly American music in a way that is engaging and entertaining to the audiences of today and is sure to put a smile on every face and a swing in everyone’s step.

The Quebe Sisters

February 1-2, 2020

Grace, Sophia, and Hulda Quebe front an innovative progressive Western swing band of archtop guitar, upright bass, fiddles, and sibling harmony. The Dallas-based five-piece presents a unique Americana blend of Western swing, jazz-influenced swing, country, Texas-style fiddling, and Western music.

Innovation has led the sisters to channel the musical connection between “danceability” and emotiveness, combining old sounds with new feelings and old feelings with new sounds. It’s not nostalgia that drives the band as purveyors of Western swing, but the aspiration to take the music back to its roots and sustain the spirit of swing.

Golden Dragon Acrobats

March 28-29, 2020

The Golden Dragon Acrobats, which hail from Cangzhou, a city in the Hebei province of China, have toured all 50 states in the US and 65 other countries across the world. Its members are athletes, actors, and artists who have studied and trained for their craft since early childhood. This award-winning acrobatic troupe has performed on Broadway twice, making them the ONLY acrobatic troupe from China chosen to perform twice on Broadway! Don’t miss out on award-winning acrobatics, traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music, and theatrical techniques with breathtaking skill and spellbinding beauty.
