The Bachelor’s in Exceptional Student Education is a four-semester program designed to connect theory to practice through a unique, paid on-the-job learning experience. While completing the final 60 credit hours of their bachelor’s degree, students work directly in school settings, applying strategies from their ESE coursework in real classrooms.
This flexible program offers both online and in-person courses, making it accessible for various learners. Graduates not only earn a degree in Exceptional Student Education but also receive Reading and ESOL endorsements, as well as eligibility for the K–12 ESE Certification upon successful completion of required FTCE assessments and coursework, preparing them to meet the diverse needs of exceptional learners across all grade levels.
Overview
The Bachelor’s in Exceptional Student Education is a four-semester program that blends coursework with paid, hands-on classroom experience. Students complete their final 60 credit hours while working in school settings, with flexible online and in-person options available. Graduates earn Reading and ESOL endorsements and are eligible for K–12 ESE Certification upon meeting FTCE requirements.
The program will start its first cohort in August 2026 (Fall 2026). Students may apply in the meantime and explore options to complete coursework leading up to Fall 2026.

Program Length
The program consists of 60 credit hours and can be completed in two years when attending full-time.
Program Cost
Tuition costs for programs and courses at the bachelor’s degree level are $122.25 per credit hour. Additional costs will include textbooks, materials, and course fees.
