The LSSC Foundation will host its 33rd Annual Gala Auction fundraiser on Saturday, April 14 at 5:30pm, at the Savannah Center in The Villages to bring community leaders in Lake and Sumter counties together to support Lake-Sumter State College’s students.
“The Gala Auction is our premier fundraising event where we bring our passionate supporters together for an evening of fun and exciting experiences,” said Dr. Laura Byrd, associate vice president and executive director of the LSSC Foundation. “Through the generosity of our donors, the Foundation is able support hard-working students and their academic programs at Lake-Sumter State College.”
This year’s event, themed Havana Nights, features experiences inspired by classic Havana, and also includes a performance and art auction by world-renowned artist Michael Israel. All of the evening’s proceeds benefit the LSSC Foundation, Inc.
Israel is an American humanitarian and performance artist who is known for his live action paintings that have raised millions for charity. Israel’s performances are often referred to as a “Cirque De Sole meets Picasso” experience.
“We are very excited to have Michael joining us this weekend at the Gala,” said Byrd. “His
performances are as unique as his artwork, and he will add an exciting new element to our
annual event.”
This year marks the 18th year that Ernie Morris Enterprises has been the event’s presenting
sponsor.
“The communities of Lake and Sumter counties benefit tremendously from students who graduate from LSSC,” says Tim Morris, vice president of Ernie Morris Enterprises, Inc. “Local businesses can secure great, new talent through the educational opportunities supported by this event.”
Tickets are still available for $150 per person by contacting the LSSC Foundation at (352) 365-
