Media Advisory – LSSC to Dedicate Nursing Simulation Center in memory of Virginia Durand

Lake-Sumter State College and the LSSC Foundation invite members of the media to attend the dedication ceremony of the Virginia Durand Nursing Simulation Center on the Leesburg Campus.

Advanced simulation centers are increasingly becoming a vital part of the nursing curricula. Simulation education provides students with practical training experiences and serve as an important supplement to hands-on clinical experiences.

During a simulation, trained faculty offer students experiences that reflect what registered nurses experience daily. Using high-fidelity manikins that mimic human responses and current healthcare technology in realistic patient settings, LSSC nursing students have the opportunity to problem solve these real-life scenarios without posing any risk to real patients.

LSSC was able to purchase a new high-fidelity manikin with a donation by Mr. Robert Durand, in memory of his wife Virginia Durand, a nurse who dedicated her life to helping others.
