Lake-Sumter State College is proud to host the 2021 NJCAA Region 8 / FCSAA DII State Volleyball Tournament at its campus in Leesburg, Fla.
“This is a great opportunity to host this event,” says Mike Matulia, Executive Athletic Director at LSSC. “We are looking forward to having a great tournament and hope that our teams and fans enjoy their experience. This has been a unique season dealing with the pandemic, and I applaud the student-athletes and coaches for their sacrifices this year and adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols.”
The tournament begins on Thursday, April 1st at 11:00am in the Everett A. Kelly Convocation Center.
Teams participating in the tournament are:
- 1st Seed: Gulf Coast State College
- 2nd Seed: South Florida State College
- 3rd Seed: Pasco-Hernando State College
- 4th Seed: Lake-Sumter State College
- 5th Seed: St. John’s River State College
- 6th Seed: Itawamba Community College (MS)
- 7th Seed: Florida Gateway College
Head Coach Amanda Phelps is excited about entering the tournament with her Lady Lakehawks. “I’m extremely proud of this team,” Phelps explains. “The amount of adversity these young ladies have had to fight through, both on and off the court, has been challenging but I believe that it has made us stronger. Our conference is very balanced, so being able to play at home for the tournament is definitely an advantage.”
Spectator Details
Ticket sales for spectator attendance is limited under COVID-19 safety protocols. All spectators must wear a face covering and will be temperature screened prior to entering the Gymnasium. Tickets are available online.
