The Operation of an Early Childhood Center – Director’s Credentials course is a 45-hour, noncredit program that provides students with the foundational director credentials required by the Florida Children’s Forum.
The course covers key topics such as childcare leadership, financial and legal responsibilities, non-discrimination, cultural sensitivity, and health and safety monitoring. It strengthens students’ ability to manage and lead high-quality childcare centers, enhancing their credibility when applying for jobs, loans, and grants. This in-person course is held at the Sumterville campus over a seven-week period and is offered once each Fall and Spring semester.
Overview
In this 45-hour noncredit course, you will fulfill the course requirements for the foundational level credentials for directors/administrators of childcare centers, as set forth by Florida Children’s Forum; increase your knowledge and skill level in a variety of administrative areas; improve your ability to secure a good job directing a high-quality center; and enhance your center’s ability to secure bank loans, corporate support and grants due to increased credibility.

Scholarships
Students graduating from high school and enrolling at LSSC may qualify for other scholarships offered through the State of Florida. You will be notified of your eligibility after you apply to the College.

Yes, all class will be held in-person only.
All courses are held at the Sumter Campus located at 1423 County Road 526A, Sumterville, FL 33585.
Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday evening from 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM. Total of 45 hours.
Once the course has been completed and all requirements have been turned in, your paperwork will be submitted to the state for review and approval. Please allow 4 weeks for this process to take place.
This course is offered once in the Fall and once in the Spring. Minimum number of students is required to offer course. If course is cancelled due to low enrollment, a full refund is issued.
