- An Associate in Arts Degree (AA) with a minimum of 60 credit hours from any college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
- Have you completed Florida Department of Law Enforcement Training? You may receive up to a total of 30 credit hours of lower-level coursework that will allow you to meet all required prerequisites for admission into the program.
All students in the BAS must complete the 30 hours of online core courses and 30 hours in their chosen concentration. A grade of C or higher is required for passing all courses in the BAS program.
The Criminal Justice Leadership concentration is for those interested in pursuing leadership positions in Law Enforcement and Corrections agencies. Students completing this course work will recognize the myriad of challenges facing today’s criminal justice professionals and will be able to make well-informed decisions to navigate this fast-changing environment:
- Recognize the importance of working across jurisdictional lines and political scenarios.
- Develop skills & abilities to work with the media as a partner and not as an adversary.
- Prepare for working with both criminal justice and civilian agencies during periods of civil unrest or terrorist activity.
- Identify challenges & experiences impacting officers’ mental health and well-being before it impacts the individual’s career.
Location: This program will be offered with both on-campus and online course requirements. Additional experiences outside of the classroom could require travel.
