College Credit for High School Coursework
Through articulation agreements between Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) and school districts in Lake, Marion, and Sumter Counties, as well as Florida Virtual School and Villages High School, eligible high school students can earn college credit for coursework and skills they’ve already mastered.
Students who complete three or more courses within the same Career and Technical Education (CTE) track may qualify as program completers. After completing the required coursework and enrolling at LSSC, eligible students can demonstrate their knowledge and skills in their chosen pathway and earn college credit at no additional cost toward an aligned Associate in Science (A.S.) degree or College Credit Certificate (CCC).
You’ve already started building your future. Let those skills carry you forward.

Your CTE Pathway to a Degree at LSSC
CTE Program → Certificate → Associate Degree → Bachelor’s Degree
1. Start in High School and Earn College Credit
CTE programs let you develop practical skills and earn credentials that can translate into college credit through Credit by Exam or Industry Certification – saving both time and tuition.
2. Earn a Certificate and Keep Moving Forward
Continue your pathway at LSSC with a career-focused college credit certificate. Many certificates can be completed in one year or less, giving you skills and a credential you can use in the workforce while continuing to build toward a degree.
3. Turn Your Certificate into Progress Toward an Associate Degree
Your certificate can be more than a workforce credential. Many LSSC College Credit Certificates are embedded within the aligned Associate of Science Degree programs.
That means the courses you complete for your certificate can also count toward your associate degree – helping you avoid starting over, saving on additional tuition, and reaching your bachelor’s degree sooner.
4. Continue to Your Bachelor’s Degree
Your associate degree can be your next step toward a bachelor’s degree at LSSC.
Build on the credits you’ve already earned, continue your education without losing the progress you’ve made, and move closer to a bachelor’s degree and your career goals.
