Engineering Tech Early Career Academy

Empower Your Future: Discover our Engineering Tech Early Career Academy

The Engineering Tech Early Career Academy is a fast-track program to a College Credit Certificate. The Early Career Academy is a structured dual enrollment program that provides students an opportunity to acquire their associate’s degree or college credit certificate through a cohort class model. Students join the program with a group of students and take a predetermined sequence of courses that will eventually lead to an associate’s degree or certificate.

Overview

Students in this program can earn the Engineering Technology Support Specialist College Credit Certificate. This certificate will allow students to enter the workforce or continue their education to earn their Associate of Science in Engineering Technology Substation and Relay Technology Specialization.

Eligibility

  • Currently enrolled at Wildwood High School, South Sumter High School, or home-schooled in Sumter County.
  • Rising 10th or 11th grader.
  • Students can be admitted as long as they meet one of these requirements:

1. A 3.0 HS GPA and minimum scores on a college readiness exam (SAT, ACT, PERT), demonstrated by submitting their high school transcript and their test scores.
2. A 2.0 HS GPA and a waiver from their high school counselor, demonstrated by submitting their high school transcript and a counselor waiver form.

  • Willingness to take classes in-person at the LSSC Sumter Campus.

Tuition is 100% free.

  • Certificate can be used to go straight to work or continue on to LSSC’s AS in Engineering and Relay Technology.
  • The ETAC Program provides a focus on an Engineering Technology career path.
  • Students take all ETAC classes on the Sumter campus at LSSC.
  • Engineering Technology Summits and Early College Day participation.
  • Provides a 2-year program for eligible students.
