Join Kids’ College and give your 1st–9th grader a smart and engaging summer at Lake-Sumter State College. Our Kids’ College program is an enriching early college experience that seamlessly blends academic fundamentals with creative exploration. Help them build skills, confidence, and a passion for learning this summer!
For over three decades, we’ve offered an incredible range of courses at both the Leesburg Campus (38 years) and the Clermont area (25 years). From core academics and sports to performing arts and creative crafts, there’s something for every student!

Our Mission and Commitment
Our Mission is to provide school-age children with an enriching summer experience where they can expand their knowledge, learn new skills, and explore new passions in a fun, safe, and academically engaging environment.
Camp is available Monday through Thursday, 9 am – 4 pm, with full and half-day options, as well as early and late care options in Semester A. Kids’ College is scheduled as 2-week semesters.

For 37 years, Kids’ College at LSSC has offered a fun and learning-filled summer experience for children in our community. We are excited for you to be a part of our summer fun!
How Kids’ College Works
This summer, join us for exciting 2-week semesters featuring a wide range of subjects.
- Main Camp Structure: We offer two standard semesters (A & B) at both the Leesburg and Clermont campuses. New this year: Semester C is available exclusively at the Clermont Campus.
- Standard Hours: Monday – Thursday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. (No Fridays!)
- Flexible Enrollment: Choose the option that fits your family best: full-day or half-day sessions.
- Career Exploration: We will also offer specialized Health Sciences Camps with their own unique schedule. Details will be available in February.

Registration Information
- Payment: Pay securely online with Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express.
- Student Registration: Please register your child, not yourself.
Camp Tuition
- Half-day session (7 days): $130
- Half-day session (8 days): $145
- Full-day session (7 days): $260
- Full-day session (8 days): $290
- Specialty camps (e.g., Health Sciences) will have separate fees.
Student Rules
- Kids’ College students are expected to follow LSSC student policies.
- Students must participate in class, maintain discipline, and follow instructor directions.
- Infraction Policy:
- 1st Infraction: Warning from the instructor.
- 2nd Infraction: Meeting with Coordinator/Director and parent notification.
- 3rd Infraction: Dismissal from the program without a refund.
- Sign all waivers during registration.
Dress Code
- Students must wear a Kids’ College T-shirt daily. Two T-shirts are provided for free.
- If a student arrives without a T-shirt, they will receive a previous year’s shirt. A $5 charge applies after the first time.
Drop-off and Pick-up Times
Arrival Times
- All students (AM Only, PM Only, and All-Day) should arrive by 8:45 am, unless they’re pre-registered for Early Care.
- PM Only students should arrive at 12:30 pm
Pickup Times
- AM Only students should be picked up at 12:30 pm
- PM Only and All-Day students should be picked up before 4:30 pm. Dismissal for the afternoon begins at 4:05 pm, and there will be no dismissals between 3:45 – 4:05 pm.

Checking In/Out or Arriving Late
- Parents must park and sign their child in/out at the Kids’ College Office.
- Call the Early College Programs Office at (352) 435-6346 for quicker service.
- Late Care: $55

- Retain Fee: $50
Emergencies
Families will be contacted if a child becomes sick, injured, or has behavioral issues.
Missed Days and Refunds
No refunds for missed days. Submit cancellation five days in advance for a refund (minus $50 fee).
Refunds
- Refund requests must be submitted in writing to yd@lssc.edu at least five (5) days before the program begins.
- A $50 refund fee will be applied to all refunds.
- No refunds will be issued after July 15, 2026.
- No single class registrations are allowed.
- Kids’ College reserves the right to add or delete specific courses based on enrollment.
Registering for Camp

- Pre-Registration: All students must pre-register for their classes before the registration deadline.
- Parents may request schedule changes after their child’s registration is complete.
- A $25 fee will be applied for each course dropped from the original registration.
- Changes may be requested and approved through the first week of the program, but no changes are allowed during the second week.
- Application: Submit your application for admission to the Lake-Sumter Kids’ College program.
- Acceptance Email: You will receive an acceptance email within 3 hours containing your login details for registration and further instructions.
- Course Descriptions: Explore our diverse range of courses.
- Schedule Builder: Need help planning your child’s schedule? Utilize our handy Schedule Builder to choose classes and view their course codes.
- Canvas Catalog Registration: Use the provided username and password to log onto Canvas Catalog for class registration.
- Course Code Search: To find your desired class quickly, enter the course code (e.g., CA21) in the Canvas Catalog search bar.
- Enroll Now: Click “Enroll Now” to secure your child’s spot in the class.
- Half-Day Registration: If registering for a half-day session, ensure you enroll in either Periods 1 & 2 OR Periods 3 & 4. No other combinations are permitted.
- Full-Day Registration: For full-day sessions, you must enroll in Periods 1, 2, 3, and 4. No exceptions.
- Early/Late Care: If available during your selected semester, enroll in early or late care classes if needed.
General Camp Information & FAQ
Kids’ College Coordinators: Coordinators are Lake-Sumter State College employees who work with students daily. These coordinators are continuously trained for interactions with students and are background checked.
Kids’ College Instructors: Most instructors are public school teachers who work with students daily. These instructors are continuously trained for interactions with students and are background checked.
Kids’ College Leaders-in-Training: LIT’s are summer volunteers attending a leadership program that assist instructors in their classes and serve as role models to campers. They help to ensure an inclusive environment for all children while helping students to complete tasks/projects. LIT’s are high school students entering 10th-12th grades earning their community service hours.
No, students who are attending a full day camp will need to bring a packed lunch and drink with the student’s name marked on the outside. Students will keep their lunch/drink with them as they go to classes.
Kids’ College staff will NOT administer any medications. Students must be able to carry and administer (with supervision) their own medications.
Yes, it is highly recommended that student bring their own backpack for carrying snacks, drinks, and lunch, if staying all day. Please be sure that the student’s name is clearly marked on all belongings.
We do not recommend bringing valuable items to Kids’ College. Students are expected to be engaged and should not expect to spend time on electronic devices.
