Electrical Distribution Technology

The Electrical Distribution Technology (EDT) degree equips students with a wide range of knowledge and functional skills for careers as line workers in the electric utility industry. Students will master competencies expected of the skilled craftsperson in basic electrical theory, fundamentals of electric power systems operations, electrical distribution safe work practices, and actual overhead pole line and underground electrical utility construction operation and maintenance. Students in the EDT program will develop the ability to take subject matter learned in the classroom and transfer the application of that knowledge to practical field situations.

Engineering Technology

The Engineering Technology (ET) degree is a comprehensive two-year program focusing on a set of ET core classes that prepare you for the workforce and transfer seamlessly to a number of Bachelor of Applied Science Degrees offered at Florida’s universities, state colleges and community colleges by applying 60 credit hours of an A.S. Degree directly to a 4-year bachelor’s degree.

Relay/Substation Tech Specialization

The Relay/Substation Tech Specialization provides students with the skills and knowledge to maintain and manage the transmission and distribution of power through electric utility systems. Coursework will cover theory in three-phase power, protective relaying, power transformers, high voltage breakers, and electrical utility print reading and miscellaneous substation systems.
