College Credit Certificate

Medical Information Coding and Billing

Empower Your Future: Discover our Medical Information Coding and Billing Certificate

The College Credit Certificate (CCC) in Medical Information Coding and Billing College is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to review and analyze health records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures for patient healthcare encounters. The certificate also covers healthcare reimbursement methodologies.

Medical coders are responsible for translating diagnostic and procedural information from medical records into numeric codes. This process often involves interacting with healthcare providers to ensure accuracy. The coded data is used for reimbursement, evaluating clinical care, supporting medical research, and identifying public health concerns.

This certificate is upward compatible with the Associate in Science (A.S.) in Health Services Management.

Graduates from the Medical Information Coding and Billing certificate are advised to gain coding experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings before taking the AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS or CCS-P) Qualifying Examination.
