Lake-Sumter State College is proud to announce that Lakehawk Softball sophomore Amy Bak has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 NJCAA Rawlings Gold Glove Awards, presented by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) in partnership with Rawlings Sporting Goods Company.
Amy Bak becomes the first Lakehawk in school history to receive this award.
This season, Bak boasted a 1.000 fielding percentage to snag a spot on the gold glove team in the pitcher position.
“Our team and coaching staff are incredibly proud of Amy,” said Head Coach Jay Miller. “She is a great representative of our program. To win a defensive award as a pitcher shows the absolute detail in her preparation. Amy led our team in wins, was first team all-region, and is now the owner of a Rawlings Gold Glove award.”
“This is an incredible achievement for Amy and a milestone for our softball program,” says Dr. Joseph Mews, Vice President of Enrollment and Student Affairs. “Amy exemplifies what it means to be a Lakehawk by balancing competitive excellence with academic and personal growth. We are proud of her dedication both on the field and in the classroom.”

We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and grateful to Coach Miller and the entire coaching staff for their dedication to developing student-athletes who shine at the highest levels.”
For her Lakehawk career, Bak maintained a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 36 total chances across 63 appearances on the mound. In her two years, Bak recorded an 18-10 record with three saves on the mound. In 196.0 innings pitched, she posted a 3.18 ERA with 124 strikeouts.
Being selected for the Rawlings Gold Glove is such an honor and receiving this award during my final season at Lake-Sumter has been unforgettable. If you had told me in my first year that I would even be considered for the Rawlings Gold Glove, I would have found it hard to believe, let alone imaging being recognized for this amazing award. I owe this achievement to the incredible program, along with the unwavering support of my teammates and coaches throughout my journey here. This softball program is truly special, and I am so thankful this is how I got to end my softball career. When I first joined Lake-Sumter, I said that my goal was to leave a lasting impact, and I feel so proud to say that I have accomplished that. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey!

Recipients of the Rawlings Gold Glove Award, presented by the NFCA, were selected by the NFCA’s NJCAA DI and DII All-America Committees, following regional voting to identify the finalists at each position. The groups utilized fielding statistics and school-submitted video to closely examine the finalists and select winners at every defensive position. Any student-athlete that competed in the current championship year and was nominated by their head coach who is a member in good standing with the NFCA was eligible for consideration for this prestigious accolade.
