Lake-Sumter State College has been informed about a cybersecurity incident involving Instructure Canvas, a third-party platform for learning management.
At this time, there is no indication that LSSC systems were breached or impacted. Instructure has reported unauthorized access to their systems that may have impacted user information. However, they are still confirming the overall scope of the information potentially impacted.
Additional security measures have been implemented by Instructure to secure their platform, and they believe that the incident has been contained.
The Canvas platform is currently unavailable due to system maintenance being performed by Instructure.
Out of an abundance of caution, our IT team has ensured that the College’s server access to Canvas is secured and passwords have been updated.
Information potentially exposed may include things like names, email addresses, and limited account-related information.
LSSC will continue to monitor this incident and provide additional updates as information becomes available.
