Ceremony Information for Students
Student Arrival at Ceremonies
Please arrive 45 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony for check-in and robing. Signs and volunteers will direct you to the student check-in area.
Guest ticket reservation and pick-up information will be sent to your Lakehawk email when available.

Purchasing Cap and Gown
Associate and Certificate level graduates must wear a black cap and gown over their clothing to participate in the ceremonies. Baccalaureate level graduates must wear a green cap and gown over their clothing to participate in the ceremonies.
Cap and gown will be available in LSSC Bookstores on the Leesburg & South Lake campuses in November (Fall Ceremony) and April (Spring Ceremony). Look for an email announcing availability. Please contact the Bookstore at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Cap, gown and tassel cost approximately $50. You may purchase each item separately. Please contact the Bookstore at email@example.com for more information.
Diploma covers will also be available.
A limited number of cap and gowns are available for loan from the Registrar’s Office. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to request one, if needed.
If your cumulative GPA from August 2023 is 3.4 or higher and you are pending conferral for a degree, you will receive an Honor Cord at check-in for your Commencement ceremony.
Other programs may provide you with a stole or cord to wear with your regalia. Only College approved stoles/cords may be worn with the Commencement regalia.

Professional Photography at Ceremonies
A professional photographer will be present to photograph each graduate as they walk across the stage. Graduates will be sent a free color proof and order forms in the mail within three weeks after the ceremony. Family and friends are asked to take pictures with their graduate before and after the ceremony.
The Commencement Ceremonies will be livestreamed on the web for viewing.
Graduates with Phi Theta Kappa membership recognition
All students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) should contact Ms. Alison Norton at NortonA@lssc.edu or (352) 787-3747 ext. 4012 for details on purchasing the PTK honors regalia.
Degree Conferral & Diploma Process
The official degree conferral process for Fall graduates will be completed by Friday, January 19, 2024 as long as all program requirements have been met. If your degree requirements have not been met, you will receive a note in Degree Works in myLSSC informing you of any outstanding requirements.
After degrees are conferred, diplomas will be mailed by Wednesday, February 21, 2024, provided there is not an outstanding account balance or other record hold on your account.
To prevent any delays in receiving your diploma, please make certain that the Registrar’s Office has a current mailing address for you on file. You may update your address by logging into myLSSC and clicking on the Personal Information link within the Student Links card.
