To provide a more efficient and cost-effective enrollment and degree verification process, Lake-Sumter State College has entered into a formal agreement with The National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) to process written verifications of degrees, current enrollment, and past attendance inquiries.

Acting as LSSC’s agent, the NSC should be considered as a primary source provider. The services provided by NSC are in full compliance with all applicable privacy laws and, in particular, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).

The National Student Clearinghouse is intended to provide third parties with a single, easy-to-access source for verifying degrees and past attendance from colleges and institutions across the country.

Continuing students and LSSC alumni will most often use the official transcript as the primary document for degree verification. However, NSC’s services are available to students, alumni, and employers and background-screening firms who prefer degree verification documents without the detail found on transcripts.

When requesting a degree verification or other information through the NSC, keep in mind:

  • There is a nominal charge for the services provided by the NSC.
  • Current enrollment can only be verified after the 100 percent refund period for all currently-enrolled courses has passed.
