Order of The Lakehawk

SPRING 2026 APPLICATIONS:

The Order of the Lakehawk is the most prestigious honor a student may receive at Lake-Sumter State College. This recognition celebrates outstanding academic achievement, meaningful involvement at the College, and significant service to the community. Membership in the Order represents the very best of our student body and fosters a lasting connection to Lake-Sumter State College. 

Inductees will be formally recognized at Commencement in May 2026.

Please review this handout for more information about the application process.  Applications will open on February 2, 2026.   

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Be a graduating student eligible to participate in the Spring Commencement Ceremony (with no more than two courses remaining).
• Have a minimum LSSC GPA of 3.0 at the time of application.
• Be in good conduct and financial standing at the time of application and remain so through Commencement.
• Demonstrate strong leadership and/or service to the College and the local community while enrolled at LSSC.

Applying to the Order of the Lakehawk

All materials must be submitted through email to Carolyn Scott, Dean of Students (scottc@lssc.edu) by March 2, 2026, 11:59 PM.

Students who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply. Up to 5 students may be inducted at each fall and spring Commencement ceremony.
