The Emerging Lakehawks program is designed to prepare students for college enrollment and success at Lake-Sumter State College. The program provides free and ongoing academic, career exploration, and cultural opportunities, as well as college admission and enrollment guidance.

  • Students enrolled at a high school in Lake or Sumter County school districts.
  • Ambitious about attending Lake-Sumter State College in the summer or fall semester after high school graduation.
  • First Generation students receive priority admission"

  • Transportation to LSSC, meals, supplies, etc. will be provided for free
  • Students who maintain favorable participation throughout the year will earn the opportunity to participate in educational and cultural field trips
  • Supplemental instruction in math
  • Dual Enrollment/ACT/SAT/PERT guidance and assistance
  • Campus tours of Lake-Sumter State College
