Ā Film and Video Editors and Camera OperatorsĀ 

Overall employment of film and video editors and camera operators is projected to grow 3 percent from 2023 to 2033, about as fast as the average for all occupations.Ā 

About 7,100 openings for film and video editors and camera operators are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.Ā 

The median annual wage for camera operators, television, video, and film was $61,800 in May 2023. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $34,420, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $120,740.Ā 

The median annual wage for film and video editors was $66,600 in May 2023. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $38,990, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $154,480.Ā 

 

Producers and Directors

Employment of producers and directors is projected to grow 8 percent from 2023 to 2033, faster than the average for all occupations.Ā

The median annual wage for producers and directors was $82,510 in May 2023. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less.
