Respiratory Care

Empower Your Future: Discover our Respiratory Care Program

The Associate in Science in Respiratory Care (AS-RC) program at Lake-Sumter State College prepares students for careers as respiratory therapists through high-quality classroom, lab, and clinical instruction. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) exam and apply for state licensure.

Respiratory therapists evaluate and treat patients with heart and lung conditions, often working in hospitals, physicians’ offices, or home care settings. This two-year program combines critical thinking with hands-on experience to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the community.

Upon successful completion of the national board exam (NBRC), the graduate is eligible to apply for a respiratory therapist state license. The state license allows the graduate to participate in a rewarding career working with individuals who have a variety of lung and heart disorders.
