The Applied Artificial Intelligence AS degree is designed to prepare students to apply AI skills to the growing number of careers that will utilize this technology. Students will discover core AI applications and explore the ethical considerations involved in their design and implementation. They will develop a strong foundation in machine learning fundamentals and gain insights into the functions of generative AI virtual assistants.

The degree contains an 18-credit stackable Artificial Intelligence Practitioner College Credit Certificate.

Degree Information

After completing an AS degree in Applied Artificial Intelligence, graduates will be qualified for various
entry-level roles in the burgeoning AI field. These include Prompt Engineer, AI Technician, Machine
Learning Assistant, Data Analyst, and Junior AI Developer positions. These roles involve implementing
and maintaining AI systems, assisting with data preparation and analysis, and developing AI models.

The demand for AI skills across all sectors is rapidly increasing. From healthcare and finance to
manufacturing and retail, organizations leverage AI to improve efficiency, drive innovation, and gain a
competitive edge. As AI continues to transform industries, the job outlook for AI practitioners with an AS degree is promising, with ample career growth and advancement opportunities.

A student must have a high school diploma or GED to apply to Lake-Sumter State College.

Program Costs

Tuition costs for programs and courses at the associate's degree level are $109.73 per credit hour. Additional costs will include textbooks, materials, and course fees. Learn more about our tuition & fees.

Students graduating from high school and enrolling at LSSC may qualify for other scholarships offered through the State of Florida. You will be notified of your eligibility after you apply to the College.

The State of Florida requires students entering a Florida College System (FCS) or State University System (SUS) institution to demonstrate competency in civic literacy by the time they graduate, pursuant to s. 1007.25(5), Florida Statutes. Beginning with the 2021-2022 academic year, newly enrolled students must demonstrate competency through completion of a civic literacy course and by achieving a passing score on the Florida Civic Literacy Examination (FCLE).
