Message from the College President

November 7, 2019

The College is committed to promoting a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment for its students, visitors, and employees. After review and approval from Planning Council, Cabinet, and the District Board of Trustees, Lake-Sumter State College will be tobacco and smoke free beginning on January 1, 2020.

This means that no smoking, use of tobacco products, or vaping of any substances will be allowed indoors or outdoors on any LSSC property. All employees, students, guests, and members of the public are expected to adhere to this policy while on our campuses.

Over the coming weeks, you will receive additional information from Human Resources, Student Life, and our Communications team about the implementation of this change.

In collaboration with the Florida Department of Health, Tobacco Free Florida representatives will be available on each campus to provide information and support to individuals looking to end their reliance on tobacco products.

All of this information will also be posted on our Tobacco and Smoke Free resource page at www.lssc.edu/smokefree.

Thank you for your cooperation in this effort to improve the health and quality of life in our community.

Stan Sidor, Ed.D.
President, Lake-Sumter State College
