The Cybersecurity Associate in Science (AS) degree program equips students with the foundational knowledge and practical skills to thrive in the ever-growing field of cybersecurity.

This program focuses on building a solid understanding of network security, ethical hacking techniques, and computer forensics, preparing graduates for entry-level information security positions and industry certifications. Additionally, the program serves as a springboard for pursuing bachelor’s and master’s degrees in cybersecurity. This AS degree includes a 24-credit stackable college credit certificate, Cybersecurity Analyst.

Students graduating from high school and enrolling at LSSC may qualify for other scholarships offered through the State of Florida. You will be notified of your eligibility after you apply to the College.

Statewide, Information Security Analyst positions can expect 31% growth over the next seven years. While data does not yet exist for Region 12, we can expect similar demand due to the increase in healthcare and utility providers in the Villages and Clermont areas (FloridaJobs.org).

A student must have a high school diploma or GED to apply to Lake-Sumter State College.

Application Process

The State of Florida requires students entering a Florida College System (FCS) or State University System (SUS) institution to demonstrate competency in civic literacy by the time they graduate, pursuant to s. 1007.25(5), Florida Statutes. Beginning with the 2021-2022 academic year, newly enrolled students must demonstrate competency through completion of a civic literacy course and by achieving a passing score on the Florida Civic Literacy Examination (FCLE).
