Yes, LSSC will need to receive an official copy of your transcripts from your high school and any colleges, universities, or technical schools you have attended.

All students are assigned a Lakehawk email at the time of application. This is how the College will communicate with you as a student. To access your Lakehawk email and to learn how to activate your account, please visit www.lssc.edu/activate. 

To look up your X-ID please visit www.lssc.edu/lois. Then click on the gray button that says “Lookup X-ID.”

Your pin will be your six-digit birthday as MMDDYY.

myLSSC:
Your X-ID pin is your six-digit birthday as MMDDYY. Please remember to use a capital X when entering your X-ID. If you’ve been locked out of your account, please contact the Admissions and Records Office at 352-323-3665.

Lakehawk Mail:
Your Lakehawk mail password is your eight-digit birthday as MMDDYYYY. If you are locked out or unable to log in, please contact the HelpDesk at 352-435-6500.

Students returning to their same program will submit a free online readmit application through www.LSSC.edu/returning. Students "leveling up" into a Bachelor's degree must complete an online application and pay the $30 application fee.

All first-time-in-college, transfer, and non-degree seeking students must apply online and pay the $30 application fee at www.LSSC.edu/apply. International students and dual enrollment students must first meet eligibility criteria before submitting a paper application to any of LSSC's four campuses. If a student has not taken classes within two consecutive semesters, or they have been a previous dual enrolled student returning under degree-seeking status, the student must complete a free, online readmit application through: www.LSSC.edu/returning. Students applying into a LSSC Bachelor degree must apply online and pay the $30 application fee; this includes previous LSSC students who have graduated with an AA or AS degree and are wanting to “level up” into a LSSC Bachelor degree. In all instances, the Florida residency affidavit must be completed in order to determine in-state/out-of-state tuition status.

If you are an international student who will need an I-20 sponsored by LSSC will need to complete a paper application. Please email AdmissionsOffice@lssc.edu to request the paper application. 

If you believe the non-transferred course is equivalent to a course here at LSSC, please schedule an appointment with an academic advisor.

An advisor is able to provide only an unofficial evaluation. Official evaluations are completed by the Admissions and Records Office upon receipt of a student's final, official transcripts.

Commencement ceremonies are held in December (for those graduating in Summer and Fall terms), and in May (for those graduating in the Spring term). Students must apply for graduation and will receive information regarding the commencement ceremony in their official student email (Lakehawk mail). See Graduation Information for more details .

Student academic records are protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). Because of the privacy of a student's educational record, students and parents must understand that academic advising is not available over the phone, and only limited information can be shared via email.

You will receive an email confirmation to your Lakehawk email when LSSC has received a transcript.  Once all of your transcripts have been received and evaluated, you will be able to review your unofficial transcript from your LOIS account at https://my.lssc.edu. You can also view this information in your DegreeWorks account, located in myLSSC, under the Student tab.

After you apply, your PIN number will be set to your birth date (MMDDYY). The first time you log into myLSSC, you will be asked to reset your PIN to another 6-digit number and enter a PIN "hint question" and "answer". It is important that you remember your 6-digit PIN. The answer to your PIN "hint question" is case and punctuation sensitive, so it is suggested that you keep your answer short, lowercase, and without punctuation.

Transfer and Readmit students should schedule an advising appointment with an academic advisor at the nearest LSSC campus to complete the registration process. Transfer students should bring unofficial copies of all previous coursework to the appointment, which will allow for initial transfer planning. All first time in college and dual enrollment students are required to complete a New Student Advising & Registration session prior to registering for classes.

Placement testing is not required for students who entered 9th grade in a Florida public school in the 2003-2004 school year or any year after, AND earned a standard high school diploma from a Florida public high school.  The Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT) test is used at LSSC for placement purposes. Students can register for the PERT on the Testing Services website at www.lssc.edu/testing. There is also a study guide available on this site. 

If you miss the admission application deadline, you can apply for the following semester.

If you miss the financial aid priority deadline for the term in which you wish to enroll, you still should apply for financial aid and register for classes before the end of the Add/Drop period. The application for financial aid will be accepted and processed; however, it may not be processed in time for you to use your financial aid to pay for your fees and books.

No. The admission application deadline is the final deadline to apply for admission for that particular semester. The financial aid deadline is the deadline for an applicant to have all admissions documents (i.e. high school and/or college transcripts) received by the college, so the student's financial aid can be processed in time for fees to be paid by Financial Aid before, or on, the fee payment deadline.

Florida statute allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to be classified as a Florida resident for tuition purposes if the applicant or the dependent applicant's parent or legal guardian has been a legal resident of the state for at least 12 months preceding the first day of classes of the term for which Florida residency is sought. For a list of acceptable proofs you may provide, see Residency Information.

If you are currently enrolled in a public, Florida institution of higher education, and you wish to take coursework that will be transferred back to your current institution, complete and submit an online Transient Student Admission Application through www.FloridaShines.org.  If your home institution is a private or out-of-state institution or is not listed with FloridaShines, you must:

• Complete an online application
• Pay the $30 application fee
• Submit a signed transient approval letter or form from your home institution

Yes. If you are a public school student, you will be provided your textbooks via the school district. If you are a home education student, you will be provided your textbooks via the LSSC Leesburg Bookstore. Both public school and home education students are responsible for returning your textbooks at the designated time. Please check your Lakehawk mail for designated dates. If you are a private school student, you are financially responsible for your textbooks and can purchase them through the LSSC Bookstore. All DE students: Please have a copy of your detailed schedule available.

Dual Enrollment students are limited to 9 credit hours (fall and spring) and 7 credit hours (summer). Early Admissions students are full-time LSSC students taking 12-18 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters. The student is not permitted to take any courses at the high school or online via Florida Virtual. Students must complete one semester of DE coursework, have a 3.0 LSSC GPA, and public school students must be of senior status. Early Admissions is not available during the summer semesters.

Dual Enrollment students can take up to 9 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters and up to 7 credit hours in the summer semesters.

No information can be released without a FERPA (Family Education Rights & Privacy Act) waiver on file, even if the student is under 18. Only the student can request and submit a FERPA waiver for the adult(s) they wish to grant access to their student account and records. The FERPA waiver can be withdrawn or edited at any time by the student.

No, Florida statutes prohibit Dual Enrollment students or parents from paying their own tuition and fees.

Please speak with your high school counselor regarding high school requirements. Academic Advisors are only permitted to advise on college requirements.

Lake-Sumter State College has three course delivery methods: fully seated, hybrid, or online. Dual enrolled students are eligible to take courses via any of those delivery methods.

If you withdraw from a course, you will only be permitted to take that one course in the subsequent semester. For example, if you withdraw from ENC1101 in the fall semester, you will only be permitted to take ENC1101 in the spring semester. Upon successful completion of a "C" or higher, you will resume normal DE eligibility.

If you receive a “D” or “F” in a course AND maintain a 2.0 LSSC GPA, you are eligible to retake the course for grade forgiveness. You are only eligible to take this one course the subsequent semester. Upon successful completion of a “C” or higher, you will resume normal DE eligibility. If you fall below a 2.0 GPA, you are ineligble for DE and can re-enroll with LSSC after you graduate high school.

Once your Dual Enrollment classes have been approved by your High School Counselor and the LSSC staff, you will receive an email of approval. Visit our Dual Enrollment Textbooks page for more information.

Lake-Sumter State College has campus stores on the Leesburg and South Lake campuses that sell branded merchandise, including apparel, school supplies, and other items.

Textbooks and course materials can be delivered to your home or one of LSSC's campuses - your choice! If you order digital course materials, access information will be emailed to you.

TextbookX also has an eLibrary that keeps a record of all of the digital items you ordered so you can easily refer back to them in case you forget how to access them. 

Log into LSSC.textbookx.com with your myLSSC account (@student.lssc.edu) to see a personalized page with the textbooks and course materials for the courses you are registered. You can then select from the new, used, rental, and ebook options - as available.

TextbookX also hosts a marketplace, where students around the country and third-party vendors sell new and used textbooks at heavily discounted prices. 

When you order textbooks, you can then have them shipped directly to you or to one of LSSC's campuses for pick up.

Yes, TextbookX offers online support through the Help tab on the website. This section includes FAQ’s, live chat, email and phone support.

Yes. Eligible students will use a voucher provided by the Financial Aid office to purchase textbooks and materials using their aid. Please look for a message from the Financial Aid Office detailing your eligibility and specific steps to that voucher.

After registering for courses, your required materials will populate when you sign into TextbookX . Please note that your materials may not appear until two weeks before the start of the semester. For information on textbook affordability and transparency, visit our searchable database.

No. Students must earn a 2.0 all college grade point average as well as a 2.0 Lake-Sumter State College grade point average. The student should meet with an academic advisor to discuss their options.

Yes. LSSC's Student Accessibility Services (previously Office for Students with Disabilities – OSD) provides support services for qualified students with disabilities, including academic accommodations, to ensure full participation in and equal access to educational opportunities.

A student is only eligible for Grade Forgiveness in courses for which they receive a grade of "D" or "F." If a course in which a grade of "C" or higher is repeated, only the initial grade will be counted in the student's GPA. Grade Forgiveness cannot be applied to a course repeated after a student has graduated.

After instructors enter final grades, students may view their grades via myLSSC. Grades are not provided over the phone, nor are they mailed. To view grades, log in to myLSSC, click on the Grade History link on the Student Links card, select term and course level, and click on View Grades.

Yes. Complete a Graduation Application in the Student tab of your myLSSC account by the published deadline in the semester you plan to graduate. Follow all prompts and press Submit. To check your status, access your DegreeWorks account through myLSSC. Check your Lakehawk Mail for a message from the Registrar about ceremony and ticket information. If you plan to walk in the commencement ceremony, you will need to purchase a cap and gown from the campus bookstore. See Graduation Information for more details (add link).

Visit the Requesting Transcripts page for instructions regarding how to order your official LSSC transcript. Unofficial transcripts can be obtained via myLSSC, under the Student tab, in the Student Records link, and Academic Transcript link.

It is recommended that you visit an Advisor at least once per semester to ensure you are on track with your educational program and goals. The wait during registration can be lengthy, so it is encouraged to visit Advising during non-peak times, which is normally between registration sessions.
